ACL Surgery Recovery - Day 3
May 31st, 2003 - One more day and I can take my bandages off. I can't wait because this means that I can finally take my first real shower since the surgery. I need one too :) My leg exercises have been going pretty well, and it seems that I can almost bend my leg from straight to 90 degrees without major issues now. There is a lot of pressure in my knee when I bend it though, and I am kind of worried about this. It's probably due to all of the swelling.
I've had a friend help me for the last couple days and have been having a lot of fun, so the time has passed by a lot faster and I've had someone help me out with my daily chores. Its still difficult to perform my daily tasks, but the pain has subsided and I can get through the day without pain killers as long as I have ice on my knee. My next doctors appointment is on Tuesday, so hopefully by then I will get a metal brace to put on my leg so I can walk without crutches.
Got some food delivered by friends a little earlier (some cookies and ice cream) and a get well balloon. That made me feel a lot better. =) Friends are very important for lifting your spirits after surgery, especially since my family lives far away.
I'm going to try to go back to work in a couple days on crutches since the pain doesn't seem to be a big issue anymore. I work a desk job so there shouldn't so there's nothing strenuous I have to do. Hopefully I can make it through a full day without major issue. I'm a little worried about opening doors. Luckily there is an elevator @ work. More updates to come...
